Exploring Concord’s North Bridge
A highlight of my 2024 was the chance to visit the Concord North Bridge in Boston. Not only is it a site with historical significance as the location of one of the first battles of the American Revolution and a powerful reminder of the past, but it also holds deeply personal, nerdy significance.
Any devoted Fallout 4 fan knows this unassuming bridge inspired the design of the Sanctuary Hills bridge in the game—one of the most iconic and nostalgic locations in that post-apocalyptic world. Standing there in person, I couldn’t help but feel the fascinating overlap of history, gaming, and my own connection to both.
What made the experience even more profound was appreciating the care and attention to detail Bethesda put into translating this piece of real-world history, reimagining it in a way that countless players like me have spent hours exploring.

I attempted to recreate the walk across the bridge in tribute to the first time the Sole Survivor sets out from Sanctuary Hills.
