The Beautiful People

Back in 2011, in celebration of Morgan’s 13th birthday, Lady and I took her down to New York City for the day. It was an exciting trip, even though it came with its share of stress—mainly because we went during the height of the COVID pandemic. Many places were closed, and we had to wear masks everywhere, but that didn’t stop us from having a great time, especially at Madame Tussauds.

The creativity and skill of the artists who create the wax figures were incredible to see in person. Some figures looked so realistic that it felt like they could move at any moment. Walking through the exhibits, we saw everyone from movie stars to historical figures, and the level of detail in each piece was impressive.

Even with the restrictions in place, the experience at Madame Tussauds was well worth the trip. It was fun watching Morgan take photos with the different figures, posing next to her favorite celebrities and characters. I made sure to capture plenty of photos from our visit, which I’m excited to share in this post.

New York City itself, even under pandemic restrictions, had its usual energy. It was a different experience navigating the streets with fewer crowds than usual, but that made it a little easier to get around. While we didn’t get to visit as many places as we originally planned, Madame Tussauds stood out as the highlight of the day.

A few years before this trip, Lady and I also visited the Madame Tussauds location in Washington, D.C. That visit had its own unique charm, with a strong emphasis on historical and political figures. It was fascinating to see wax replicas of past U.S. presidents and other key figures in American history. If you’re interested, you can check out some of the photos from that trip as well.
